Probably the closest idea to that of souls archiving and resurrection is the one of Cryonics. Cryonics is very much focused on preserving the body including the brain which is still the largest repositiry of the information describing the individual. There are a number of variant and connected proposed technological ideas, described on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryonics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_uploading

where mind uploading variant of Approximation/Recreation seems closer to the eSouls idea:

Approximation/Recreation

It has also been suggested (for example, in Greg Egan’s “jewelhead” stories[16]) that a detailed examination of the brain itself may not be required, that the brain could be treated as a black box instead and effectively duplicated “for all practical purposes” by merely duplicating how it responds to specific external stimuli.”

To make a parallel to the Cryonics, eSouls or eCryonics will be focused on “freezing” (archiving) a “body” of information (memories) until future technologies will be developed to ressurect an archived soul. And the beauty of this is that archiving is more and more easier  and cheaper to do. For example, instead of preserving the device storing the information-the brain, it is much cheaper (and without any damage) to preserve the input and output information of the black box, which will later be used to reconstruct the personality.

A quick and practical solution for example could be to use (somehow similar to the “The Final Cut” movie) a blue tooth ear phone connected to an iPhone to reoord realtime all audio conversations and surrounding an individual is exposed to during his/her life time. Later, when larger bandwidth will become available, video recordings can be added.

This paraller with Cryonics is valuable because there is already a market there and I hope the cryonics services include already as a safety feature at least partial archiving of memories…

I’ll detail another e-Cryonics system easy to build nowadays in a future post.
